• This year's theme is 'Moving and Belonging'

For the second edition of the Ateker International Film Festival, we invite filmmakers, industry professionals, cinema enthusiasts, storytellers, and audiences in the community to explore this year's theme, "Moving and Belonging," a theme that reflects the journeys, identities, and connections that shape individuals and marginalized communities across the Ateker region, Africa, and beyond.

In a world marked by migration, displacement, climate change, conflicts, and cultural transitions, the idea of home is no longer fixed to a single place. Instead, it is continually reimagined through memory, resilience, relationships, and the spaces where people find acceptance and a sense of community.

From September 2nd to 6th, the festival will transform Kakuma Town and the Kakuma Refugee Camp into a vibrant space for artists, filmmakers and creatives to connect, exchange ideas, and deepen their understanding of cinema and the power of art and storytelling in a changing world.

    The Walk Home
As daylight fades across Kakuma Refugee Camp, the journey home begins. Buckets filled with water balance on young heads, while dreams of education, peace, and opportunity fill young hearts. Refugee life is not just about survival; it is about people who continue to hope, work, and dream despite the challenges they face.
